Seeing blue and beyond

Yay~~ I got my butt in gear and finished some heads (from ’09?!). Some habits are hard to break. I was going to keep them all to meself but they’re now searching for new homes on ebay!

Hyancinth & Ophelia

Further destashing to come because very soon I will be broke ass poor. Literally break the piggy bank poor. There’s a new smell in the air and it’s called…m-m-mmortgage. For the first time ever in ma life I’ll have monthly debt. o_o Dread and rejoice! It’s a strange dance. Now the months of anxious searching, driven by escalating prices, battling offers for any remotely desirable house within <sarcasm> affordability </sarcasm>, are finally over. Can’t wait until the keys are in my hot little hands. Countdown to one month!

I’ve also had inquiries regarding commissions but I won’t open any new spots until the current orders are done (quality over quantity ;) ). When the time comes, I’ll announce it on my mailing list then here. Truly I appreciate the interest, and am sorry to ask you all to wait…

Since ebay’s raising fees (again!) starting at the end of this month, I’m probably going to cut back on auctions. Maybe not quite throw in the towel just yet, but I’m already ruminating over my next venture. Until then, “keep calm and carry on”. XD

T minus 60 hours

You know it’s been too long between updates when you nearly forget how to use your blogging software. :P I haven’t done any doll stuff in the past few months, aside from a couple of still-in-progress commissions. It’s been a slow year for projects and purchases…there’s just not much that entice me these days. Ok, there were some like Hot Toys “Silken Floss” figure but decided to pass on the higher price tag.

Then there’s another reason I’ve taken a mini vacation from dollies:

sewing machine

This past summer I picked up this lovely metal lady off Craiglist for the awesome sum of free. :D Finally have a sewing machine of my own!! YAY! I couldn’t believe my luck at the fabulous condition it’s in considering its age…it’s an improvement over my mum’s machine. It has more stitch options, can sew over thicker layers of fabric, and is quieter (can sew longer into the night XD). I’ve been getting more serious about sewing and am currently taking a patternmaking course. The instructor is rather old school and encourages us to arrive earlier to class so we can discuss any questions/problems from the previous class. And she doesn’t do breaks either..just 3+ hours of instruction. A far cry from the previous draping course I took..in which people dropped in and took breaks whenever they felt like. I have a feeling we’re going to learn a lot, if I can only keep up! ^^;;

In a few days we’re going to attend the “Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds” concert by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Been waiting something like this for half my life! So excited! Had the crazy idea to cosplay and if I can finish the costume by then it’ll be my first time. >_< And if time runs out, I can only say I tried. ^_^;; That’s it for my drive-by blogging. *lol*

Whoo, it’s about time for an update! How has your summer been? Aside from being kept busy with work, I’ve been pursuing more homely endeavours like cooking and gardening. Not that I’m really complaining..well, except for the nightly slug patrols. The slimy bastards were relentlessly dining on my poor seedlings! Despite that and an unusually cool summer, I am tickled to see that it’s not entirely impossible to grow something edible. Can’t wait to try new crops next year!

Since my craft n’ junk have been literally gathering dust, I spent the last few days cleaning and organizing, getting reacquainted with stuff. Anyhow, here’s an impromptu teaser of some gals I’ve been working on:
